Some facts about Care Orchestrator Essence

Philips recently launched Care Orchestrator Essence — a desktop-based solution designed to allow clinicians the ability to interact with therapy data, and quickly locate areas of interest, to support fast and efficient care for sleep apnea and respiratory patients. Below Philips Product Manager Kevin Erdner answers some common questions about this exciting new offering.

Q: Why a desktop product? I thought the whole world was connected.
While the world is certainly becoming more and more connected, many parts of the world do not have the infrastructure necessary to support cloud-based medical systems. As part of Philip’s vision of improving the lives of 3 billion people a year by the year 2025, CO Essence brings quality healthcare to those areas that are not as connected as we are here. In addition, many of our customers are reluctant to store their patients’ medical data on a cloud-based system out of concern for data breaches. CO Essence fills this gap by providing a solution to meet the basic needs of these customers.

Q: What’s the core value provided by CO Essence?
Care Orchestrator Essence provides an efficient solution for our customers by providing the basic functions necessary to treat patients with sleep or respiratory care needs. CO Essence is targeted for use by both DME users and physicians providing clinical care, providing a simple user experience to quickly assess patient condition and treatment efficacy.

Q: What are the innovations included in CO Essence?
CO Essence includes many innovations by utilizing the latest software technology and trends in user experience design. One example of this innovation is the interactive display of patient therapy data. Physicians using CO Essence have the ability to truly interact with their patients’ data; zooming in and out on various graphs, marking areas of interest within the data, and visually comparing one clinical metric to another. This experience allows the physician to quickly assess the efficacy of the patient’s treatment and can make adjustments as necessary.

Q: What type of PC is needed to run CO Essence?
CO Essence is designed to perform on the Windows operating system. CO Essence will perform adequately on Windows® 7 Service Pack 1 or higher, and a PC with at least a 2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and an 80 Gb hard drive is recommended.

Q: What devices does Care Orchestrator Essence support?
Care Orchestrator Essence supports the broad portfolio of sleep and respiratory care devices. This includes the 60-Series family of CPAP, BiPAP and ASV device, the DreamStation family of devices, and soon the Trilogy ventilation device.
